Top-ranked Lake Hamilton rallies past Russellville, 42-32

Senior quarterback Grant Bearden scored three touchdowns Friday night to lead top-ranked Lake Hamilton past Russellville.

 

PEARCY, Ark. — Russellville gave Class 6A’s top-ranked Lake Hamilton a scare for the second straight year Friday night at Wolf Stadium, but the Wolves celebrated Homecoming with a 42-32 victory.

The game was tied 20-20 at halftime, but the foot of Alex Hurtz gave Lake Hamilton (6-0, 3-0) a one-point advantage going into the final quarter. The Wolves scored twice in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Senior fullback Tevin Hughes led the Wolves’ wing-T offense with 196 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Junior wingback Kendrick Martin surpassed the century mark with 124 yards on 11 carries.

The Wolves broke several big plays. Hughes had a 77-yard run, while Martin broke free on a 59-yard dash. Junior Justin Crutchmer and a 50-yard touchdown run.

Lake Hamilton finished with 399 yards on the ground. Senior quarterback Grant Bearden scored three touchdowns on short runs, while completing 2-6 passes for 24 yards.

Defensive standouts for the Wolves included junior Izic Clenney with 10 tackles, two TFL. senior Hunter Hanna had five tackles, three TFL.

Lake Hamilton travels to Siloam Springs next Friday.
