PEARCY, Ar. — Texarkana Arkansas High girls deal Lake Hamilton’s state tournament prospects a blow Friday night at the Wolf Arena with a dominating 5A South win over the Lady Wolves, 46-35.
“I’m always telling my girls it’s up to you; tonight was a great team win,” said Arkansas High coach Dulincia Keener. “It’s very hard to pick one or two individual standouts, because was played so well as a team. We had great play at point guard, and Jenna Dupree shot the ball well. Seaira Watson always plays well in her role.
“Lake Hamilton is a very good team. They’re always going to be competitive and play hard.”
Lady Wolves still share third in 5A South
The Lady Wolves came into the game tied for third place in 5A South with El Dorado and Lakeside. All three teams lost, so there’s still a three-way tie for the final two state tournament berths.
Samya Flowers led the Lady Backs offense Friday with 13 points. Watson scored eight points and Dupree six.
Lake Hamilton (9-14, 6-5) was led by senior Nancy Coffman with 15 points. Brooklynn Broughton contributed 13 points.
Twice Arkansas High built 12-point cushions, only to see the Wolves respond with 9-0 runs. The Lady Backs responded both times with runs of their own.
