The Arkansas State Police is investigating a University of Arkansas Medical Sciences officer involved shooting of a 59-year-old Sheridan man on Monday.

According to state police, Bobby Hollingshead of Grant County reportedly brandished a gun and directed police officers to stay away as he exited his truck near the hospital emergency entrance at around 12:40 PM. As Hollingshead raised the gun, according to police, one officer fired his weapon, striking Hollingshead, who was then taken inside of the hospital for medical treatment. Police say that Hollingshead died. Hollingshead’s body has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory where the manner and cause of death will be determined.

Hospital staff said via the police that they received reports prior to the shooting that Hollingshead may have had intentions to harm himself or someone at the hospital.
