State Police investigating Monroe County homicide

The Arkansas State Police say they have been asked to investigate a homicide wherein a 54-year-old man was found stabbed to death in a Holly Grove apartment.

State Police say that the Mount County Sheriff’s Department dispatched deputies to an apartment at 505 4th Street in Holly Grove on March 28 at around 11:30 p.m. Deputies, according to state police, found Cedric Hampton Earl dead from an apparent stab wound.

Authorities say that an occupant of the apartment, 65-year-old Nelson Morrow, was taken into custody and later charged with manslaughter in connection with the homicide and remains at the Monroe County Jail in Clarendon pending a bond hearing to be scheduled.

Special agents from the state police’s criminal investigation division are investigating the death.
