
The Arkansas State Police has been requested to look into the fatal shooting of a Woodruff County man that occurred on May 2.
Jaquale Mitchell, 27, of Augusta, was shot during an exchange of gunfire that occurred around 5:00 p.m. outside an apartment complex on Fairfield Street in Augusta. Mitchell died at a White County hospital.
Police have asked the State Police’s criminal investigation division to investigate.
According to police via witnesses, there was an quarrel between Mitchell and 25-year-old Anfernee Neal, also of Augusta, followed by an exchange of gunfire.

The Augusta Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies, have been searching for Neal, who has been criminally charged with first degree murder.
