State Police arrest North Little Rock woman in connection with highway dept. worker death

The Arkansas State Police say they have arrested a North Little Rock woman related to the hit and run death of an Arkansas Department of Transportation employee assigned to an Interstate 30 work zone.

Police say they have arrested 37-year-old Crystal Johnson and she is currently being incarcerated in the Pulaski County Detention Center. Johnson is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, a class B felony. The state police are also charging Johnson with filing a false police report, a class D felony.

According to police, a passing by vehicle struck 69-year-old Winfred Petty as he was setting up construction warning signs in the westbound lanes of I-30 near Scott Hamilton Drive.

The state police are continuing to investigate the death, which is being handled by the criminal investigation division.
