The Arkansas State Police has arrested a Franklin County man Wednesday in connection with an ongoing investigation of a fatal crash on Interstate 40 in Franklin County.
Police arrested 43-year-old Douglas Darr of Ozark for leaving the scene of an accident involving a death or personal injury. Police also charged Darr with careless and prohibited driving, no proof of liability insurance, and failure to register a vehicle.
According to police, Darr’s vehicle entered I-40 onramp and pulled out in front of a 2018 International Harvester truck. The driver of the vehicle, 59-year-old James A. Rotenbury of Russellville, took corrective action and served to the left and ran off the roadway. Police say that Rotenbury’s truck entered the north side road ditch and tried to steer back into its lane. As a result, police say Rotenbury’s vehicle overturned on its driver side, killing Rotenbury. The incident occurred approximately at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday.
Darr is being held at the Franklin County Detention Center. Rotenbury’s body is being held at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
