DUMAS, Ark. (AP) — Police in Arkansas say at least one person has been killed and 24 people wounded in a shooting outside a car show.

Dumas Police Chief Keith Finch provided the number of casualties but said it wasn’t immediately clear how many kids had been hurt.

One suspect is in custody and a search is continuing today for others who may have been firing into the crowd of people shortly after 7 PM Saturday.

State Police spokesperson Bill Sadler said troopers were dispatched to Dumas around 7:25 p.m. on Saturday following a report of gunfire outside a local business where the car show was underway.

Special Agents of the state police Criminal Investigation Division have worked through the night interviewing victims and witnesses.  State troopers assigned to the Highway Patrol Division have been assisting Dumas police officers restore calm to the community and securing the crime scene along U.S. Highway 65 which runs through the center of the southeast Arkansas town.

The car show is an annual community event held each spring to raise funds for scholarships and school supplies.
