Sheridan is Wolves’ first challenger; Knights off first week of playoffs

Lake Hamilton plays top-ranked Greenwood for the 6A state championship Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Head coach Tommy Gilleran says the team with the fewest mistakes will probably win.

 

Lake Hamilton (8-1) begins its quest Friday night for the 6A state championship when the Wolves host Sheridan (2-8) in the first round of the playoffs.

In Class 5A play Hot Springs (3-4) challenges White Hall. Hot Springs Lakeside (6-3) gets a first round bye. The Rams play the winner of the Watson Chapel (5-4)-Vilonia (5-4) game. 5A West champion Texarkana Arkansas High (5-0) will host Alma (2-7).

Arkadelphia (6-1) faces Star City (4-4) in its 4A opener Friday. Fountain Lake (4-4) plays Pottsville (3-5). Nashville, Ashdown, and Malvern don’t open until Nov. 20.

Playoffs kick off Friday

Centerpoint, Bismarck and Prescott also open Nov. 20 in 3A playoff action. Jessieville (5-5) faces Harrisburg (5-3) this week. The Knights will play the winner of the Piggott-Harmony Grove Camden game.

There will be lots of action in Class 2A.

Bearden (5-5) challenges Mount Ida (4-6). Mountainburg (3-5) travels to Dierks (9-1). Mineral Springs (3-6) visits Carlisle (3-6). Murfreesboro (5-5) takes on Quitman (5-5), and Hector (3-6) invades Foreman (4-5).
