ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Rougned Odor and Ronald Guzman homered in a five-run first inning and the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics 5-2 in the first game of a doubleheader. Odor hit a three-run shot and Guzman had a two-run homer. They spoiled the major league debut of A’s starter Daulton Jefferies, who had never pitched above the Double-A level. Rangers rookie lefty Wes Benjamin got his first big league victory with four solid innings after Nick Goody pitched a perfect first in an opener role. It was Benjamin’s fifth big league appearance.
