Rangers 2-0 win Mariners

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has placed infielder/outfielder Danny Santana on the 10-day Injured List, retroactive to August 27, with a right elbow sprain.  The team has also recalled first baseman Ronald Guzmán (#11) from the Alternate Training Site.

Santana was also on the Injured List from July 31-August 15 with a right forearm strain, and he has started 10 of the Rangers’ 11 games since his return.  He has batted .145 with one home run and 7 RBI in 15 games for the Rangers this season, making starts at first base (9), center field (4) and designated hitter (1).  The first date he would be eligible to return is September 6.

Guzmán will be in his second stint with the Rangers this season, as he was also with the club from Opening Day-July 29.  His lone game during the first stint was a start at first base on July 25 vs. Colorado, when he went 1-for-4.  Guzmán saw action in 13 games before the shutdown this spring, batting .194 (7-36), and hit .111 (4-36) over 11 intrasquad games after a late start to Summer Camp.

Guzmán has batted .229 with a .721 OPS over his Major League career, spanning 211 games with Texas from 2018-20.  His 177 starts at first base in 2018-19 were the most of any Ranger.
