Rangers drain Milwaukee 11-2

Rangers 15-5 win Red Sox

The Rangers cruised to an 11-2 victory over the Brewers on Saturday in Maryvale, winning for the 7th time in their last 9 games. Texas has a 10-6 record in the exhibition season.

The Texas offense posted crooked numbers with a 3-run 1st inning and 4-run 4th inning, and Kyle Gibson earned the win in his 2nd consecutive strong start. Each of the club’s first 4 batters recorded hits off Milwaukee starter Brett Anderson to begin the game. Isiah Kiner-Falefa continued his torrid spring with an RBI single to score Leody Taveras, who opened the contest with a double. Danny Santana followed with an infield single before Ronald Guzmán ripped a double into the right-center gap to score a pair of runs. Guzmán is 3-for-10 in his last 3 games. Kiner-Falefa also hit his team-leading 4th home run in the 4th, as his 2-run blast boosted the Rangers to a 7-0 lead.

He has hit safely in 5 straight games and owns a .379 (11-29) batting average through 12 games, leading the Rangers in hits (11), home runs (4), runs (9), and total bases (23). Jeff Mathis also went deep in the 4th inning, as his 2-run home run marked his first of the spring. Taveras finished 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, and is 6-for-13 over his last 6 contests. Santana walked and doubled in his final 2 at-bats to reach in all 3 plate appearances. Andy Ibáñez belted his 2nd spring home run in the 7th inning and ranks 3rd on the club with 7 RBI.

Gibson fired 3.0 scoreless innings to give him 5.0 perfect frames through 2 spring starts. The right-hander retired his first 7 batters faced and escaped a bases-loaded jam with an inning-ending double play in the 3rd. Luke Farrell allowed one hit over 2.0 scoreless innings in relief, and has now worked 6.2 innings without allowing a run this spring.

The Rangers play host to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. CT in Surprise, as RHP Jordan Lyles (0-0, 9.00) is slated to oppose Dodgers LHP Julio Urías (0-0, 0.00).
