AMITY, Ar. — Not even the rain could slow the Centerpoint Knights Friday night in the first round of the 3A playoffs against the Lavaca Golden Arrows.
Senior running back Jace Clark added to his school rushing totals with 134 yard and four touchdowns in the Knights’ 48-22 victory. Clark has rushed for 1,633 yards with 26 touchdowns. The win sends Centerpoint to Charleston next Friday.
“The boys played hard all night; It seemed like the worse the weather got, the better we played,” said Centerpoint coach Cary Rogers. “Our offensive line played a great game.”
Diggs passes test against Lavaca
Sophomore quarterback Drew Diggs enjoyed another great performance thanks to the protection his line produced. He completed 12 of 14 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Bryce Harlass scored on a 65-yard play, and Ayden Johnston hauled in a 21-yard pass.
Diggs has completed 60 percent of his passes for 1,323 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Defensively, Jaden Collie had an interception.
The Knights (9-1) finished the regular season second in 3A-4, losing only to Glen Rose. Next week’s game is a rematch, the Knights having won at Charleston in the playoffs last season.
