
SEARCY, Ar. — National Park College’s men and women advanced to the second round of the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament at Harding University.
Both games were recent rematches with South Arkansas Community College. The Nighthawks’ men built a 43-19 lead in the first half and coasted to a 73-55 victory. It was different in the women’s game where the game was tied at the end of the first quarter, and NPC led 28-26 at halftime. The Nighthawks pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 67-49 win.
NPC’s men will face Arkansas State Mid-South Friday at Harding. The women play North Arkansas College Friday at 1 p.m. in Searcy.

NJCAA Region 2 resumes for NPC Friday
Sayvon Traylor led the Nighthawks with 18 points, including 8 of 8 from the free throw line. Jo Quarius Valrie dominated the paint with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while guard Kam Vick contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Nighthawks dominated the glass with 53 rebounds, while committing 10 turnovers.
NPC takes a 21-8 record into Friday’s game.
India Atkins scored 19 points as NPC’s women improved to 12-14. Amaya Coakley added 11, and Jhyla Calvin pulled down 10 of the Nighthawks’ 40 rebounds.
