No. 1 Lake Hamilton gets physical with Siloam Springs

Junior Justin Crutchmer rushed for 231 yards on 24 carries Friday night as top-ranked Lake Hamilton lost to Benton, 42-41.

 

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ar. — Lake Hamilton (7-0, 4-0) scored three touchdowns in the second quarter Friday night, and went on to rout Siloam Springs, 42-7.

No. 1 in Class 6A, the Wolves rushed for 350 yards behind senior fullback Tevin Hughes and junior slot back Justin Crutchmer. Hughes scored twice and led all runners with 141 yards on 17 carries. Crutchmer rushed for 124 yards on 11 totes and scored three TDs.

Senior quarterback Grant Bearden ran for 28 yards and a TD, while passing for 81 yards on three completions. Crutchmer caught a pass for 27 yards, and senior Noah Tiernan hauled in one of Bearden’s aerials for 40 yards.

Hurtz gives Siloam Springs the boot

Lake Hamilton got another outstanding kicking effort from senior Alex Hurtz. He was 6-6 on PATs, with five touchbacks. Hurtz also averaged 45 yards on two punts.

Juniors Dakota Muncrief and Izic Clenney led the Wolves’ defense with eight and seven tackles, respectively. Two of Clenney’s tackles were behind the line of scrimmage. Senior Hunter Hanna and junior Caleb Waller had interceptions for the Wolves.

Lake Hamilton has another long road trip next Friday at Van Buren. The Wolves close with Benton at home, and another marathon on the road to Greenwood.
