The Arkansas State Police says that a Lake Village man suspected of homicide surrendered to law enforcement Tuesday.
State Police says that 43-year-old Derrick Wilson surrendered after a day-long search following a fatal shooting incident that occurred on July 5.
According to police, 53-year-old James Harden of Lake Village was shot at around 1:30 p.m., July 5, while outside a residence at 423 Lee Street. Witnesses say via the police that Harden fled from Wilson, who arrived at the residence shortly before the shooting transpired.
Harden died while being transported to a local hospital.
Special agents of the state police’s criminal investigation division was asked to investigate the homicide. Agents obtained warrants charging Wilson with murder in the first degree and possession of a firearm by certain persons.
The state police is still investigating the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Wilson is being held at the Chicot County Detention Center pending a first appearance hearing.
