PEARCY, Ark. – Hayleigh Wyrick scored 14 of her game-high 23 points in the first half Monday night at the Wolf Den as Lake Hamilton’s Lady Wolves dealt Nashville’s girls their first loss of 2020, 59-50.
The Lady Scrappers entered the game 9-0, and scored the game’s first five points. Wyrick and Aspen Thornton managed to erase that deficit in a hurry, and Lake Hamilton led 14-10 after the first quarter.
Thornton finishes strong for Lady Wolves
Lake Hamilton’s biggest lead in the first half was nine points. Nashville battled back to make it 29-25 at intermission. The Lady Wolves had a six-point cushion going into the final eight minutes. Thornton made sure the Scrappers never got closer with nine of her 17 points coming in the fourth quarter. She made 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute.
The Wolves improve to 7-3 on the season, and will be back in action Tuesday at home gainst Centerpoint. Lake Hamilton’s girls play Star City on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Kyleigh Scroggins led Nashville’s attack with 13 points. Olivia Dean and Sidney Townsend scored 12 points each. The Scrappers kept the game competitive until the end with nine 3-pointers.
