Lady Knights prevail in overtime against Central Arkansas Christian to reach 3A quarterfinals

Centerpoint coach John Bright was obviously disappointed Sunday after the Lady Knights lost to Valley Springs.

 

HARRISON, Ar. — Senior Monika Flores converted four decisive free throws in the final seconds of overtime at North Arkansas College to earn Centerpoint a 64-63 win over Central Arkansas Christian.

Bailey Brown swished three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and Centerpoint’s girls rallied from an 11-point deficit to force the overtime. The Lady Knights improve to 26-2 with the victory. They will play host Valley Springs or Mountain View in Sunday’s quarterfinals at 4 p.m.

Central Arkansas Christian led until final seconds

Junior Riley Bryant jump-started CAC with three treys, and Ava Knowdl scored nine of her 17 points in the first quarter as the Mustangs raced out to a 24-15 lead. It was 36-24 at halftime, and 45-34 going into the fourth period.

Marlee Bright prevented the game from being a rout with 15 of her 25 points in the first half. She fouled out of the game in the OT. Flores scored 22 for the winners.

CAC’s Bryant led all scorers with 30 points, including five 3-pointers. Livian Burton scored all 10 of her points in the first half.
