AMITY, Ark. – Genoa Central never got untracked offensively Friday night as Centerpoint’s Lady Knights celebrated Senior Night with an easy 50-24 victory.

Both teams started the game ice-cold from the field. The Lady Knight built an 11-0 cushion, while it took Genoa Central 7:59 of the first quarter to score. It didn’t get much better in the second stanza, with the Knights taking a 30-9 advantage at intermission.

Lady Knights please their coach

“We weren’t quite sure of what Genoa Central was going to run against us (man or zone),” said Centerpoint coach John Bright. “We were prepared for both situations. I was really pleased with our effort, defensively. I felt like we were moving very quickly to the ball.

“There were some lulls in scoring. We missed some easy shots at times, but overall I was pleased with the girls effort.”

Bright was pleased with his team’s outside shooting. Marlee Bright and Sade Killip had two treys each, with Lizzie Jester coming off the bench in the fourth quarter to sink a 20-footer.

“Killip has been on fire that last two games,” said Bright. “We’re a lot better team when can can hit our three-pointers. If Monika, Precious, Sade and Marlee are making their threes, we’ll be in the fight.”

John Bright’s girl (Marlee) led all scorers with 15 points, seven in the first quarter. Emily Balliette contributed eight points, and Killip six with her two treys. Gracie Fowler led the Dragons with six points.
