Kirby School District to have 4 day week when the new school year begins this August.
Kirby School District will become the first public schools in Arkansas to adopt a four-day week for the 2019-20 school year. The Kirby School District Superintendent Pike Palmer said he and school board members had been considering the change after hearing about a similar move in Colorado.
According to officials research shows similar districts have done so and it shows morale and attendance had improved for both teachers and students, and students’ grades increased.
The district says there has been a lot of support from parents and students to make the change.
The change will also save the district money when it comes to utilities and transportation costs.
