Hazen couple, daughter fatally shot at residence; State Police investigating

The Arkansas State Police is investigating the fatal shooting of a Hazen couple and their daughter at a residence at 604 U.S.-63 on Friday night.

State Police arrested and charged 50-year-old Michael Munnerlyn and charged him with murder following the fatal shooting of 64-year-old James Turner, 62-year-old Amanda Turner, and 46-year-old Mirranda Munnerlyn of Carlisle.

According to state police, Hazen Police Department officers were dispatched to the residence at 9:39 p.m. Officers were alerted to a suspected reported to be traveling in a pickup truck along U.S.-63.

State police say that authorities spotted the vehicle and arrested Munnerlyn, who was Mirranda Munnerlyn’s husband.

Special agents of the state police’s criminal investigation division continued to collect evidence from the crime scene overnight and interview individuals familiar with the family and circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting.

The bodies of the three victims will be examined at the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to confirm the manner and cause of death.  A criminal case file prepared by the state police will be turned over to the Prairie County prosecuting attorney.
