Gafford makes national award teams

Arkansas past Kent State

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas Razorbacks sophomore center Daniel Gafford earned two national honors on Tuesday.

The Associated Press voted Gafford an All-America honorable mention and CollegeInsider.com named him to the Lefty Driesell Defensive All-America team.

The former El Dorado Wildcat is the 29th Hog to be named All-America, and the 14th to make an AP All-America team. With the Lefty Driesell team honor, he is the first Razorback to nab that honor since its 2010 inception.

Gafford earned consensus first-team All-Southeastern Conference, becoming just the sixth Arkansas player to be honored. He also was voted to the SEC All-Defensive team. Only LSU’s Tremont Waters was both All-SEC and All-SEC Defensive team.

The native of El Dorado finished his two-year tenure with the Hogs with 955 points, averaging 7.4 rebounds, a .635 field goal percentage (second-best in program history), and 141 blocked shots (sixth-best in Arkansas history).
