Police in Flippin, Arkansas, shot a suspect involved in the alleged homicide of a 40-year-old woman on Tuesday night at a Flippin residence.

According to Arkansas State Police, Flippin police officers arrived at 401 8th Street, Building 1, Apartment 4 on Monday evening at 8:40 p.m. in response to a call for help. Officers shot 42-year-old Richard Wayne Hudson, Jr., of Glenpool, Oklahoma, the state police say. Hudson was transported to a nearby hospital and continues to receive treatment, according to police.

Inside the apartment, police say they discovered the body of Kathryn Parker along with two other individuals who sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Local authorities requested special agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division look into the homicide and also the officer involved shooting. When the investigation is complete, all information will be given to the Marion County prosecuting attorney, who will determine if the use of deadly force by officers was consistent with Arkansas state law. The prosecuting attorney will also determine what criminal charges may need to be filed against Hudson when he is released from the hospital.

Parker’s body has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where manner and cause of death will be determined by investigators.
