Centerpoint

MURFREESBORO, Ark. — Centerpoint and Murfreesboro moved the ball up and down the field Friday night. The Knights rallied in the second half to beat the inspired Rattlers, 28-14.

It was the Knight scoring first, but Murfreesboro quarterback Sloan Perrin put the Rattlers on top on a spectacular 70-yard scoring run. Perrin then added a two-pointer to make it 8-7.

Cameron Stevens intercepted a pass moments later to set up Murfreesboro’s final touchdown. Perrin’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Lance Chambers made it 14-7 at intermission.

Rattlers couldn’t keep up in second half

The two offenses continued to pile up yards, but turned the ball over on downs.

The Knights took the second half kickoff and scored in three minutes. A long pass from Josh Lawson to Kaden Owens set up the score. Carlos Ponce scored on an 8-yard run. Hayden Rogers kicked the extra point to make it 14-14.

Centerpoint (1-1) was driving again late in the third period. Lawson completed a 75-yard drive with an 8-yard scoring run.

The final points of the game came in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter. Lawson threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Rogers. Tristan Rader’s interception seconds later stopped the Rattlers, who would have three more possessions.
