HASKELL– The Centerpoint Knights raced to a 14-point lead and were able to cling to that advantage with stellar defense in a thrilling season opener at Haskell Harmony Grove. In the end, the Knights were victorious over the Cardinals 17-14.
The Knights scored the first two touchdowns and added a field goal to take a 17-0 lead intro the locker room at halftime. Then, the Knights defense allowed only 14 second half points which was good enough to insure the victory.
Harmony Grove had their moments and put a scare into the Knights. However, a win is a win, right?
Knights offense was led by their quarterback Josh Lawson
The Knights offense was lead by legendary quarterback Josh Lawson. Lawson threw for each score. Lawson’s first score was a 63-yard passing strike to Gabe Doster. Lawson’s second score was a 43-yard rocket to CJ Fox. Hayden Rogers used his powerful leg to kicked a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter. That’s how the Knights built their 17-0 halftime lead.

The Cardinals did claw back in the third quarter. They scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. They also recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. It wasn’t enough.
