Centerpoint

By Pete Sams

It as always been said football is about inches and plays, that was the case here in Fouke tonight. Fans packed Panthers Field for another great Homecoming and was treated to a nail bitter of a game with Centerpoint.

Fouke came out setting a tone of hurry up and run on offense, only to punt the ball. Centerpoint came out to match Fouke to only do the same thing on their first drive.

At the 5:15 mark in the first quarter, Hunter Lansdell connected with Seth Phillips on a 44 yard touchdown. The 2 point conversion was no good.  Centerpoint came back and answered with their own touchdown with a 3 yard carry by Running back Landon Way. Hayden Rogers added the extra point to make it 7-6.  But with the closing seconds of the first quarter Nick Scoggins ran one in from 5 yards out to take back the lead.

At the 10:10 mark of the second quarter, Hunter Lansdell connected with Kanon Garrett for a 25 yard touchdown. At the third quarter, both teams traded punts and turnover on downs. Until 2:42 left in the third when Joshua Lawson hooked up with C.J. Scott for a 65 yard touchdown to get with in 3 of Fouke.

As the third quarter was quite, the fourth quarter had it’s share of fireworks. Hunter Lansdell threw 1 of his 2 interception to C.J. Scott and Scott took it in for a touchdown. But Hunter Lansdell drove Fouke right back down and scored on a 15 yard quarterback keeper. Then Lansdell hooked up with Seth Phillips for the 2 point conversion to make it 26-21 with 6:36 left in the game.

Centerpoint then took over and on a 62 yard pass from Joshua Lawson to Landon Way scored the game winning touchdown.

Joshua Lawson ended the night 18-35 with 226 passing yards. He also threw for 2 interecption. Hunter Lansdell was 21-47 with 2 interecption, passing for 283 yards. Fouke had a combine 30 rushes for 154 yards while Centerpoint had 33 rushes for 52 yards

Fouke will take on Bismarck on the road, while Centerpoint will be at home against the Genoa Central Drangons.
