Centerpoint beats Horatio 35-9

Centerpoint

The Centerpoint Knights took care of the Horatio Lions 35-9 Friday evening at Horatio High School.

For the Knights, they improve to 8-1 on the season with a 5-1 record in conference play. Centerpoint takes on the Prescott Curley Wolves next Thursday night to finish out their regular season with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

At 0-9 overall and 0-6 in conference play, Horatio finishes up their regular season with a trip to Fouke to take on the Panthers.

Centerpoint adds another conference win to their one-loss conference record. The showdown with the Curley Wolves next Friday night will be consequential as Prescott enters the game with a perfect 6-0 conference record. If the Knights can manage to get a win, they will force a series of tiebreakers that will have to be sorted out as Centerpoint and Prescott will both have just one loss in conference play.

If Camden Harmony Grove, who also has just one conference loss, wins next week, then it will also make things very interesting as the 2019 regular season closes out. Currently, Harmony Grove has a tiebreaker over the Knights as they beat them 48-14 on Oct. 18.

A win next week for Centerpoint would deliver them their first nine-win season since 2016 when they finished in the postseason with a 45-17 loss to the Charleston Tigers in the state quarterfinals.
