Arkansas trooper fatally shoots man after standoff

FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say an Arkansas State Police trooper fatally shot a man after an hours-long standoff that began when local deputies tried to serve an arrest warrant. The standoff began Monday morning when St. Francis County deputies tried to serve a warrant on 64-year-old Robert Wayne Lawson of Forrest City. State Police say Lawson threatened deputies, and state troopers were called in to assist. Authorities say a state trooper eventually shot and killed Lawson at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday.
