Arkansas schools resume classes during coronavirus pandemic


LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas students are heading back to class online and in person as the state’s coronavirus deaths and hospitalizations continue to rise. Classes at the state’s public schools resumed on Monday. Arkansas is requiring schools to be open five days a week for students who need in-person instruction. The state is also allowing schools to offer virtual classes and hybrid plans that include some in-person instruction. The state on Sunday said at least 56,574 people have tested positive for the virus, an increase of 375 new confirmed cases. The state reported 13 more deaths from COVID-19 and eight more hospitalizations.
