Arkansas reports 626 new coronavirus cases, 5 more deaths

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas has reported 626 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and five more deaths from the illness. The state Department of Health on Friday said at least 52,392 people have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began in March. Cases now active total 6,359, meaning those who have died of the virus or recovered are excluded. The department said 189 of the new cases came from correctional facilities. The number of people who have died from COVID-19 rose to 587, while the number of those hospitalized fell by seven to 466.
