Arkansas hits new high for people hospitalized with COVID-19

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The number of people in Arkansas hospitalized due to COVID-19 has hit a new high. The Department of Health on Tuesday said five more people were hospitalized due to the illness caused by the coronavirus, bringing the state’s COVID-19 hospitalizations to 529. The state’s previous high for hospitalizations was 526 on Aug. 4. The state’s COVID-19 fatalities increased by 22 to 1,469. The state’s confirmed cases rose by 532 to 84,203 and probable cases increased by 109 to 3,841. A White House task force said the state had the ninth highest rate of new cases per capita last week.
