The XFL announced Wednesday that Dallas will be one of the eight founding cities of the league’s revitalization, and Globe Life Park in Arlington will be the team’s venue.

“After months of research and consideration, we’re thrilled to announce the cities and venues of the XFL’s eight inaugural teams,” said XFL Commissioner and CEO Oliver Luck. “We are committed to being ingrained in the local community and extremely fortunate that our teams will have world-class facilities to call home.”

Luck made the announcement at a press conference at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. joined by Texans Rangers CEO Neil Leiman and Sr. vice president of operations and events Sean Decker along with Arlington mayor Jeff Williams, city manager Trey Yelverton, and convention and visitors bureau president and CEO Ron Price.

The Rangers and the City of Arlington will discuss with the North Texas media further about the Dec. 5 announcement on Thursday. The XFL is set to kickoff the weekend of Feb. 8-9, 2020.
